10 Things You Should Pack For Your Trip to Walt Disney World
/1. Comfortable, Supportive Shoes
As you can imagine, there is LOTS of walking happening at Disney. Walking around the parks, walking around the resorts, walking to the bus, etc. We wear tennis shoes all of the time (unless going to a nice dinner).
2. Rain Coat and/or Disposable Ponchos
Rain gear is always a good idea! We like to carry light weight rain jackets because they can be thrown in a backpack and do not take up much space. Florida, especially depending on the time of year you visit, can experience daily afternoon showers. We also like to take disposable ponchos if there is no threat of rain. They take up less space in our backpack and, if we need to, we can use them for the day and then throw them away (we tend to reuse them several times).
Don't worry..... Not everyone will stare
3. Water/Beverages
Disposable Poncho, Sunglasses, tennis shoes, comfortable clothes, and sunscreen
Here is a way to save money!!! We always bring our own water bottles! You are allowed to bring your own non-alcoholic beverages into the park and at $3.00 per bottle of water in the park, we choose to bring our own. We do not bring snacks just because there is so much delicious food to try but if you have a picky eater in your family, you can also bring snacks into the park.
4. Sunscreen/Hat/Sunglasses
With much of your day spent outdoors, you don't want to forget any of these! Don't forget to remove those hats on the rides!
5. Phones/Cameras/Chargers
You'll want to take lots of pictures and use the My Disney Experience app and the Play Disney app, while in the park. You may also be using your phone to check social media and pacify your children (of all ages!) while in line. With all this extra phone usage, you'll likely want to have your charger handy!
6. Comfortable clothes
Check the weather and pack comfortably! Think about getting in and out of rides, walking frequently, and possibly getting wet! When we pack, we pack things that dry quickly, things that keep us cool (if it's summer), and things that we can move easily in!
7. Frogtog Chilly Pad/Layers
If you're visiting Florida in the summer, it is HOT and HUMID. One way we like to beat the heat is by riding water rides and using Frogtog Chilly Pads. However, in the winter months, it can get chilly in Florida. We like to dress in layers. As it gets warmer during the day, we take layers off and then as it cools down again at night, we put the layers back on!
8. Entertainment for long lines
You can cut down on your wait time in line with Fastpass+ and hitting the parks at the right time, but you'll likely have some down time in a few long lines. Think of creative ways to pass the time. Depending on your child's age, you can download a fun app like, Heads Up or the new Play Disney app.
9. Swim Gear
With the warm temps in Florida, you can take a dip in the pool for much of the year. The pool is a great break from the park! There are also two full scale water parks located on the Disney property that many families choose to visit!
10. Wipes/Hand Sanitizer
Some places you eat will not have a super convenient restroom. We suggest bringing wipes and/or hand sanitizer to use prior to the meal and to clean up any messes following the meal!
BONUS TIP: Small Bag or Small Backpack
You can bring a bag into the park; however, it will be searched. To save time, we recommend keeping your bag as small as possible! We take one small backpack and pack it with everything we need. Also if you are on rides, you need a bag that you can zip closed (you don't want to risk anything falling out) and that can fit into a small storage area.
